The Cat That Wouldn’t Die is a 45-track compilation of music, experimental sounds and words performed and/or spoken by artists from all over the world.
Modeled after The Dog That Wouldn’t Die, a cassette tape of quick expressions and sonic outbursts that CIA released in 1986, THE CAT compilation is the love child of George L. Shea, Bob Weber, and David Notarius, with art and design from Heather L. Johnson. The concept was inspired by Morgan Fisher’s 1980 release, Miniatures, for which 51 artists recorded single minute-long songs. In this case, 45 musicians, writers, sound artists and performers of all kinds, and from everywhere, sent in 2-minute sound bites, pictures of their cats and all sorts of visual art.. enough for a double vinyl album and a 60-page magazine.
Without question, it’s been a hell of a labor of love, and we can’t wait to share it with as many people as possible. And we’re so happy to say that it is OUT NOW!
